[SOLVED] How can I run Tor browser with Firejail?

Post by philotux » Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:51 pm

Hi,

Iv have the latest Tor browser (8.5.5 (based on Mozilla Firefox 60.9.0esr) (64-bit)) and can launch it successfully by running:

Code: Select all

sh -c '"/home/philotux/Applications/tor-browser_en-US/Browser/start-tor-browser" --detach || ([ !  -x "/home/philotux/Applications/tor-browser_en-US/Browser/start-tor-browser" ] && "$(dirname "$*")"/Browser/start-tor-browser --detach)' dummy %k
But trying to run it with firejail results in crashing of the Tor browser's tabs.

Is there anyway I can achieve this?

I appreciate greatly your help.

greetings,

philotux

Thank you so much for your reply!

I had a look at /etc/firejail/start-tor-browser.profile which already exist in the system though with somewhat different content than the one from the link you posted. I copied the content from your link and replaced the one already existent in /etc/firejail but still am facing the same issue.

use tor service and proxychains tor browser doesnot work well with sandbox. I have found this https://github.com/AlaxJordarn/GUN-Linu ... ity/tor.sh

First install tor, surf and proxychains and then configure proxychain add socks5 127.0.0.1 in the proxychain config file at /etc/proxychain.conf

finally download that bash script and run it.
I recommend downloading surf browser and using the script with it.
