Hi,

During a couple of recent updates, I'll get the following warnings:
[2019-03-01 22:29] [ALPM-SCRIPTLET] ==> WARNING: Possibly missing firmware for module: aic94xx
[2019-03-01 22:29] [ALPM-SCRIPTLET] ==> WARNING: Possibly missing firmware for module: wd719x
Same thing for the updates I did on 2019-03-04
[2019-03-04 17:43] [ALPM-SCRIPTLET] ==> WARNING: Possibly missing firmware for module: aic94xx
[2019-03-04 17:43] [ALPM-SCRIPTLET] ==> WARNING: Possibly missing firmware for module: wd719x
Searching the web, I came across https://gist.github.com/imrvelj/c65cd5c ... 4f5a3f7a6d regarding the exact same issue

But before doing anything on my own, I wanted to consult you about this.

Since my system seems to be running just fine, do you think I should just ignore these warnings or I should proceed as indicated in the instructions above?

As you self say

Code: Select all

Since my system seems to be running just fine
imo you should just ignore these warnings.
aic94xx is a driver for: https://storage.microsemi.com/en-us/sup ... sas-44300/
Have you that in your system?
The same for the wd719x driver it's for Western Digital hardware, possible a WD7193 SCSI card, do you have these card in your system?

No, I have none of the above in my system.
My system runs great and I am happy that there is nothing wrong with it.

Thank you so much for replying and putting my mind at ease.

I have also two of those...

installing or not installing does not change anything.

Being lazy and having a whatever attitude I do not install it.

Hi.. I'm suspicious that actually this is a false warning from mkinitcpio, as in the cases that are mentioned on the wiki page that Trilby linked. I mean I also doubt that I have such a hardware. In order to check this I followed the upstream URL link of the wd719x-firmware package, and found out that the firmware is for Western Digital PCI-SCSI host adapters.

If no issues then no worries

that is a sentence with copyright Erik Dubois.

LIke in previous post I just looked upon two mentions about '''"'possible""" missing drivers just this morning in the "update".

I follow my students on this matter.

Whatever!

Yes you can install the packages from AUR.

the difference is that you do not see the error messages anymore.

That is it.

For the rest no improvement or is it worse.

Normally I do not install these things. Only if I got the time or if I am fed up seeing them.
