I experience insanely low fps (in the ~60 range) on osu! Lazer even though both the game and Nvidia say it's running at 900fps+. It worked fine a few days ago, and I suddenly started having performance issues on many games. Also games on Wine running at 5 seconds per frame (yes, one frame every 5 seconds). Wine ran perfectly back then. I even renstalled Linux and Windows. Win10 runs perfectly now, as it had lag too. However Linux is the same. I stayed on Arch (I used Garuda but switched to Arco). How valve pls fix?
OS: Arco Linux, Windows 10 Home
GUI, Desktop: Plasma 5, Xorg
CPU: Intel i5 10400
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1650 4GB
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2666mHz
Disk: 480GB Kioxia Exceria SATA SSD
Motherboard: MSI H410-M B (UEFI)
Performance issues persisting across Arch distro installs but not Windows

what if you downgrade mesa
anything else that could have affected your fps?

Downgrading mesa didn't work, neither did downgrading Nvidia drivers. I don't know what could be affecting it.erikdubois wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 7:42 am Check your updates

You haven't explicitly mentioned.abumaster wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 7:08 am I experience insanely low fps (in the ~60 range) on osu! Are you using proprietary drivers or open source ?
The 545xx drivers appear to have known regression issues with fluctuating fps levels - this has been reported across different environments.

Downgrading to 535xx should resolve the issue.

Downgrading to 535xx did fix native games, but not Wine.fennec wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 10:34 amYou haven't explicitly mentioned.abumaster wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 7:08 am I experience insanely low fps (in the ~60 range) on osu! I'm not a gamer. So can only provide some generic troubleshooting steps.
If the downgrade to NVIDIA 535xx helped stabilize the fps levels at a desktop environment level, but does not seem to solve the issues in Wine.
This suggests that this is no longer a driver related performance issue.
- It maybe a regression in the Wine src code, the latest version is at v9.1 - so does a downgrade to v9.0 help ?
- Have you checked the performance page on WIne: https://wiki.winehq.org/Performance
- Check for performance bugs at: https://wiki.winehq.org/Performance#Per ... lated_bugs

- What has changed on your system; did you upgrade Wine ? / did you update the Kernel / are you experiencing low fps on certain games ?It worked fine a few days ago, and I suddenly started having performance issues on many games.
