After upgrading " pacman -Syu" during Thanksgiving, system is now very slow in opening anything if the laptop monitor is shut closed and viewing exclusively via the hdmi monitor.
If , however, the laptop is opened and now dual monitoring, things run very fast indeed.
New updates no help up to today's date.
Laptop: GL 75 Leopard
Nvida
Core i7
Latest system update Dec 12, 2022 : better - but still slow. With laptop closed, viewing mirror on HDMI, items take 6.5 seconds to open. With laptop open ( and also HDMI mirror on, ) takes 1.2 seconds to open items
[OPEN] HDMI mirror slow now

Keep the pc open sounds like good advice
see on other forums what they report
there are many Arch Linux forums - Arch but also EndeavourOs - Garuda etc
No immediate suggestions

My system sometimes goes wacko after going to sleep. Mouse becomes erratic , video starts showing triangles of screen all over the place as I move my mouse. I just reboot and everything is fine. Probably a driver issue somewhere. I have just learned to live with it until an update fixes it.
For me it's not all the time.

I stumbled a great work around. Have both screens on.
Unplug the HDMI cord at the laptop.
Reboot the laptop
After boot complete - shut the laptop closed.
Now, replug in the HDMI cord.
It'll take about 22 seconds for the system to bring the HDMI screen alive.
Once it does - things open and close quickly on the big screen.
( ps - don't reopen the laptop)
