I am trying to build the most minimal GUI iso I can.
I was wanting to start with the baseline packages and build from there.
Having issues determining what packages I need.
I will list what I have so far.
I want to use Fluxbox as the DE.
Here is my package list so far:

Code: Select all

base
linux
mkinitcpio
mkinitcpio-archiso
pv
qemu-guest-agent
syslinux
leafpad
lightdm
lxde
virtualbox-guest-utils
xorg
xterm
xorg-xinit

I found this list from another site but it looks like it has more packages that I need.
Let me know what you think.

Take a look at ArcoLinuxD iso + Alci Pure iso.

You need packages for Calamares too.

You can add them as dependencies ofcourse so they do not appear in this list and remove them later.

If you do not need 'stuff' ...

it is all very personal

depends on your hardware

you can leave out many xf86-video drivers
not have bluetooth
nor printing
nor ...

what happens is you end into something you are not happy with

no browser
no editor
etc ...

and you will have to install packages after a reboot

Stick to your selection and try to build an iso
then add package per package and try building an iso

Thanks for all the tips.
I am going to do some watching of the videos on this page:
https://alci.online/

Thanks for making all of these videos.

Been playing around with building the archiso and I think I have that mastered.
Now trying to fine tune to get what I want.
It will probably be just like your Arcolinux projects where the user can pick all the items they want.
But for right now I just want a real basic iso and add after it is built.
Dan

I think I am going to add a git hub also.

Another question.
If I use your server in my pacman.conf to get calamares will it ever be gone to where I can't get it ?
I am just learning about github like I am learning about everything.

Code: Select all

Server = https://arch-linux-calamares-installer.github.io/$repo/$arch
