[OPEN] Automatic "personal" command possible? (or at least its effect)

Post by vcaselli »

Is it possible to 'automate' the execution of the "personal" command just after the first installation of an Arcolinux B BYOI ?

I am asking this because I would like to create an Arcolinux Plasma iso with latte-dock not just included, but also showing automatically, without asking the user to issue the "personal" command (which I already tested working successfully - great work & thanks by the way!).

Is this possible in some way? Should I do it with Arcolinux D, S or other?

Thank you very much

Put the config you want the user to have in /etc/skel.

That is it.

Hi Erik,
sorry, I know it must me a newbie's question, but, with respect to the Plasma BYOI structure
* arco-plasma/.git
* arco-plasma/archiso
* arco-plasma/installation-scripts
* arco-plasma/personal
where exactly should be put the etc/skel subfolder?

Or you mean really the absolute /etc/skel folder of the machine where the 30-build-the-iso-the-first-time.sh is launched?

Thank you

Two options

1. put all in the folder here : https://github.com/arcolinux/arcolinuxl ... s/etc/skel

2. or make a package or packages and put it in the same location

Thank you, I will try

And, above all, never never never play around with /etc/skel folder of your main machine :o

You can play around with the /etc/skel of your own machine.

It will never be used.

UNLESS you type "skel" in your terminal.

On ArcoLinux it means you will copy/paste that content to your home directory.

But the image you are showing has NOTHING to do with /etc/skel.

I really don't know what happened.
I copied .config into /etc/skel (didn't type 'skel') and launched ./30-build-the-iso-the-first-time.sh.
At next reboot I got the grub rescue prompt.
Then I tried your great video
1600 ArcoLinux : You can always fix your computer with arch-chroot
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC9Www6sgDM
but arch-chroot didn't work

So reinstalled it all (let's say it was time for a clean reinstall..), but next time I try BYOI I will probably do it inside a VirtualBox.

I see you try btrfs.

Why don't you try ext4?

If you understand correctly you actually are breaking the computer you are building on.

Watch some more videos because that has never happened to me ...

However as an idea -- see that you are building your isos on an ext4 machine not btrfs

Yes, my main machine has btrfs,
but I'll make a virtualbox with ext4 for next iso buildings.
How can the filesystem type can make a difference?
