[CLOSED] Unable to turn off bluetooth

Post by MannvonStand » Sun Dec 03, 2017 3:51 pm

Good day everyone,

I encountered below described issue today. Please let me know if you need further info.

Description of problem

After a fresh install of ArchMerge v6.2.1, I am unable to toggle/turn off bluetooth. It seems to be stuck in "Discovery Mode".
I haven't had that issue when running the live iso.

Relevant info

OS: ArchMerge v6.2.1

When this issue began

After installing ArchMerge v6.2.1 to the hard drive and updating via

Code: Select all

sudo pacman -Syyu
and

Code: Select all

pksyua
What I've tried so far to resolve the issue

1. Removed BlueZ, Blueberry, Gnome Bluetooth
2. Executed script (120-bluetooth-v2.sh) from ArchMerge Github
3. Followed Arch Wiki Bluetooth Installation and Configuration
4. Executed

Code: Select all

rfkill unblock all
5. Also found this article however, since I have a different wireless controller I did not try it yet.

We have it too. ArchMerge 6.2.1
I just saw there was a bluez-utils, bluez-libs and bluez update.

They are probably the culprit.

Personally I will wait for an update.

You could try to downgrade the updated packages.

Downgrade is installed.

On the other hand I have here an ArchMergeD 6.2.1 Openbox.

Image

on the left side I can use the icon to stop bluetooth. But the slider will not move to the right. It stays 'on' (blue). But it disconnects.

But on the right screen I can vsiually disconnect. Slider changes.

As long as I have music... I will wait for an update. Blueberry tray has been acting up as well lately.

I have the same list in pacman -Q | grep blue - exact same versions.

Thank you for your reply.

I thought so, since it is working fine when running the live iso or any live iso of other linux distributions. However, I didn't find any thread about this topic.

But I am also relatively new to linux so I didn't want to just downgrade the kernel and perhaps mess up my system. If I decide to downgrade, I just download and execute the script from your github?

It might be the kernel. But i would first try to downgrade bluetooth packages.
Like I said if you still have music then wait for an update.

I will try that and otherwise just wait for an update. Thank you again.

you could also try to Install the linux-lts kernel 4.9.66 and boot from that one, just to rule out possible kernel problem, since 4.14.3 is a brand new one.

I also noticed today, there was also a linux-firmware update as well, could also be the culprit
