Hey Everyone.

I thought it would be good to have a thread for sharing your custom aliases that others could take and use/modify.

Here are mine.

Code: Select all

alias neofetch="neofetch | lolcat" #Adds colour to neofetch
alias watcher="watch grep -e Dirty: -e Writeback: /proc/meminfo" #handy for watching cache flush progress
alias fullrip="abcde -1 -o flac -a default, cue" #Rip an audio cd to a single flac and .cue file pair using ABCDE
alias ripper="whipper cd rip" # Use whipper to create a bit perfect audio CD rip.
alias qedit="sudo geany /home/bloodwolf/.config/qtile/config.py" #Edit the qtile config
alias getpass="openssl rand -base64 20" #Generate a random 20 Character password for webistes
alias speed='speedtest-cli --server 2406 --simple' #Check connection speed
alias meip='curl ipinfo.io/ip' #Check your external IP address
alias mlip='ifconfig eno1 | grep inet' #Check Local IP address
alias c='clear' #Clear the Screen
alias pmp3='for i in *.mp3; do mpv "$i"; done' #Play all .mp3 files in current folder
alias pflac='for i in *.flac; do mpv "$i"; done' #Play all .flac files in current folder
alias gpumem="grep -i --color memory /var/log/Xorg.0.log" #Display GPU memory
alias untar="tar -xpvf *.tar --xattrs-include='*.*' --numeric-owner" #untar all .tar files to current directory keeping permissions
alias tardir="find . -maxdepth 1 -mindepth 1 -type d -exec tar cvf {}.tar {} \;" #tar contents of current directory
alias sf4="shred -v -n 4 * && sync && shred -v -n 0 -z -u * && sync" #shred folder contents 4 times
alias sd="samdump2 SYSTEM SAM > /home/bloodwolf/Desktop/win10SAM/hashes.txt" #Dump Windows password hashes to text file in folder
alias mkd="mkdir -pv" #Make directories with path
alias sdn="sudo shutdown -h now" #Rapid Shutdown
