[SOLVED] I want a clean Openbox ArcoLinux configuration and programs

Post by lobaluna »

Hi! I just installed ArcoLinux using the ArcoLinuxD ISO.
First of all, it is gorgeous job you have done here!
I love my ArcoLinux.

I do not know why I ended with many XFCE packages that I do not asked for.
For example, they are confusing my session for mouse configuration.
I want a just-Openbox session for configuring my ArcoLinux.

1. Do/Can I get rid of those xfce- programs? Is it "healthy" for my system?
2. I assume I must configure my left-hand mouse using the config files in ~/.config/openbox folder. Am I correct?

1. Openbox is not a desktop - it requires more apps to become 'full' - you can choose xfce apps or mate apps or gnome apps but it needs more

2. I had no idea where you should configure a left mouse but again - xfce does have settings for that - hence it makes sense to add xfce elements

OK. I solved it adding an XFCE4 desktop.

I just simplified the term "desktop" since the ArcoLinux Tweak Tool (whicj is an ArcoLinux script) calls Openbox "a desktop". Please, check the IU of that tool.

I perfectly know the difference between a desktop environment and a windows manager.
If you want precision in talking in this forum, which is perfectly understandable, should as well be expected to be congruence between all UI applications.

Having said that, I assumed that could be a low-level trick to set the mouse for lefties (like configuring thru .Xprofile or something else…

I understand, Erik, that you must not know everything, so answering "I do not know" leaves me the same, because all the people that didn't answer they as well didn't know.
