[solved] Closing laptop lid does nothing on Dell ArcolinuxB Awesome

Post by narayan-das » Tue Jul 31, 2018 5:49 pm

Greetings :),

My laptop stays running when I close my laptop lid. The music continues to plays as if nothing happened.

I am running ArcoLinuxB-Awesome on a Dell XPS 15 9560. It has XFCE power management installed.

journalctl -xe

Code: Select all

Jul 31 19:42:02 arch systemd-logind[467]: Lid opened.
Jul 31 19:42:05 arch systemd-logind[467]: Lid closed.
Jul 31 19:42:13 arch systemd-logind[467]: Lid opened.
Jul 31 19:42:28 arch systemd-logind[467]: Lid closed.
Jul 31 19:42:34 arch systemd-logind[467]: Lid opened.
I have just manually been putting my laptop to sleep before closing the lid.

Hi,

Hopefully you have upower installed. If not install it and take a look on the file:

/etc/UPower/UPower.conf

check if you have a line starting with IgnoreLid. XFCE depends on upower to be able to manage the power options.

To take an action when you close the lid, the file above should have this option set:

IgnoreLid=false

if not, add it and try setting your preferences on XFCE power preferences again.

Hope it works.
