[SOLVED] Installation Failed due to Package Installation

Post by gh1da » Thu Jul 05, 2018 6:28 pm

Hello a Little bit of backstory here:
-I tired installing Antergos for 6 times but apparently the installation gets stuck at 0% (both through USB and through DVD)
-I tried installing Manjaro twice but for some reason the installation doesn't load (through USB)
-I tried installing Arch through Revenge installer twice. Apparently everything goes as planned but once I reboot I face the famous blinking cursor. (through USB)
-(through USB) I tired installing Arch directly but I get the timeout error (Failed to install packages to new root) when I try to install the base packages through

Code: Select all

pacstrap /mnt base
Now I've discovered AcroLinux and tried to install it three times now but the same problem persists; when the installation reaches 83% (the Install Packages phase) it gets stuck for quite some time and then I get this error (apparently linked to packages)
Here is an image :
I tried installing through terminal and here is the terminal log :
Thanks in advance :)

Please report this to this github

https://github.com/calamares/calamares/issues

I wanted to do it in your place but the template is asking me questions I can not answer.

We have done this in the past and the developers were very helpful. As a result a better improved version of Calamares rolled out for all of us.

Hope you open an issue there (on calamares github) and point to this forum. That way the developers can keep asking more focused questions to solve your issue and we all can follow the conversation and learn from it.
Learn, have fun and enjoy.
But first use the power of the Arch Wiki
use the tutorials on https://www.youtube.com/erikdubois
then use the power of google
and only then use the power of our moderators.

Hello Erik,
Thank you for your fast response but I've managed to solve the problem which was due to my DNS :D
Solution :
I ran

Code: Select all

cat /etc/resolv.conf
and I get this output

Code: Select all

# Generated by NetworkManager
search home
nameserver X.X.X.X
(given that X.X.X.X is my DNS)
So I want to edit X.X.X.X to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 which are Google's DNS, I run

Code: Select all

nano /etc/resolv.conf
and change what I had to this

Code: Select all

# Generated by NetworkManager
search home
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.8.4
To verify run

Code: Select all

drill www.example.com
and it should display 8.8.8.8 in the Server section.
