[INFO] NVIDIA Driver Install for Noobs
[INFO] NVIDIA Driver Install for Noobs
I'm new to ArcoLinux and ran into some issues while installing the Nvidia drivers for Steam and left out one important step. I had to install all three compenents below.
The lib32 is what I was missing until doing some research on the error I was getting when executing steam. The error message is below.
If any of the pros here at ArcoLinx feel the need to correct me, please feel free.
Regards!
Code: Select all
sudo pacman –S nvidia
sudo pacman –S nvidia-utils
sudo pacman –S lib32-nvidia-utils
Code: Select all
libGL error: No matching fbConfigs or visuals found
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
Regards!

More info here

What you install here are the proprietary drivers...
There is no need to install nvidia drivers ... unless you have issues with your hardware.
The Linux kernel provides support for many nvidia cards.

Re: [INFO] NVIDIA Driver Install for Noobs
Thanks Erik!
For some reason, the email client I use, Hiri doesn't play well with the open source nvidia drivers and my framerates on a few games I like to play on my breaks, were excruciating.
The only issue I have now is that the font size in my Window Buttons within the xfce panel are super large. I reset them then on reboot, they're back to the larger size. I have to restart the panel. The fonts in each window title experience the same thing.
Not a biggie. I'll continue to research.
Cheers!

8bit, I'm experiencing the same issue with large font size in menus, titles and window buttons when using the NVIDIA driver. Have you found a fix?
My terminal fonts are also large and I can not adjust them.
For reference, my card is a GeForce GTX 1080. This happens across all desktops, Openbox, XFCE, Xmonad.
