[SOLVED] Plasma boots without Menu/start button

Post by vancouver » Sat Feb 16, 2019 9:06 pm

I checked out Plasma but the live-boot didn't show a start button in the panel. There are icons on the right side but nothing on the left the work spaces.

This is the second download (created new USB stick) and boot. What am I missing?

You have missed a video or two...

All ArcoLinuxB iso's have NO menu at all.

It is a minimal iso with a bare xfce.

Xfce is just a means to get any of the ArcoLinuxB desktops on your system.

You need to install to see any of the 12 iso's/desktops.

Only ArcoLinuxB Xfce looks nice since that is the official desktop on the ArcoLinux iso.

Near the end of the video 7:15

Any of the articles on arcolinuxb.com will tell you the same

https://arcolinuxb.com/byoi-on-arcolinux-plasma/
We will use Xfce as the delivery system for your desktop.
The livecd will not have your chosen desktop.
You need to install it to see it.
Learn, have fun and enjoy.

Interesting!

The other day when Timeshift wasn't behaving I thought to give good old Plasma another try. Since then, the issue has become manageable and XFCE is here to stay unless the Wacom tablet acts up (fingers crossed).

I found hblock trough that video and just added it to both machines. NICE! :)
