[CLOSED] AX200 wifi/bluetooth not working

Post by sugarcrisp »

I have a new system that is working great, but I've had issues with wifi and bluetooth. I have a TP-link AC600 wifi usb that I managed to get working a while ago and seems to work fine. The new system doesn't have build in bluetooth, so I decided to go with a usb 5.0 dongle. Had plenty of issues getting it working. Figured out that it would only work if I suspended my computer and then woke it up. This works, but is inconvenient. I decided to get myself a dual wifi/bluetooth card. Everything I read pointed at Intel. I decided to go with the AX200. It's installed and I can see it with lsusb. However, there is no wifi option available in NetworkManager and bluetooth doesn't work. I've looked through many pages to try and track down a solution (nothing yet). Here is some of the commands that where used to try and get more info.

Code: Select all

sudo dmesg | grep firmware
 7.085131] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Loaded firmware version: 55.d9698065.0 cc-a0-55.ucode
7.085259] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Failed to start RT ucode: -110
[ 8.049540] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Failed to run INIT ucode: -110
I ran this on older ucode as I was trying to test. The next time I reboot I will be on the newest again.

Code: Select all

lspci -vvnn | grep Network

Update: I decided to return the card and return to using the usb dongles.

it gets fixed by installing

Code: Select all

linux-firmware
but I see you have that already.

You may have messed up your system by trying to fix it

it seems that it should work out of the box with our kernels IF

Code: Select all

linux-firmware
is present

that makes me think

did you try out other kernels

Code: Select all

sudo downgrade linux
but also

Code: Select all

sudo pacman -S linux-lts

Hey Erik! I've tried with the main kernel and the lts. I haven't tried to downgrade yet. I didn't really do much when testing other than the kernels and trying older ucode. I've put everything back to where I started. I came across mention of the linux-firmware and confirmed, as you did, that I have it installed. I will try downgrading the main kernel and see if it works.

Tried a few downgrades of the main kernel with no success. I tried 5.12.13, 5.11.16 and 5.9.14. I also tried with the live usb. On startup, I noticed the same error

Code: Select all

iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Failed to start RT ucode: -110
iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Failed to run INIT ucode: -110
That should rule out any changes that I might have made, right?

Often I ask myself if it is all worth it.

When hardware does not work, I buy different hardware that does.

Just saying...

At the moment it might still be a bit soon.

You decide when that moment comes.

I hear what you are saying. Unfortunately for me, I just bought this card to replace my Bluetooth usb and I doubt that I will be able to return it :(

I'm in Vietnam. Most of the time vendors are only looking for a "one-time-sale". For some reason, many don't get the idea of acquiring a customer for life. Because of this, many sales are finale. I'm trying to follow up with them to see if it can be returned (fingers crossed). On another note, is there a dual wifi/bluetooth card that you are someone else would recommend?
