[OPEN] Fan and heat issues

Post by gitrig »

Hello

I have installed Arcolinux XFCE and my laptop works perfectly. No fan noise or overheating.

I tried ArcolinuxB Deepin, Cinnamon, Gnome, Budgie. In all those installations my laptop behaves differently. The CPU fan works at 100% and the laptop is overheating.

Do you know what is installed only on XFCE and is not installed on all the other DEs that causes such weird behaviour?

Thank you in advance

You can compare the package list of both isos with meld and see for yourself.

https://bike.seedhost.eu/arcolinux/iso/

Download the pkglists.

But first use the power of the Arch Wiki
use the tutorials on https://www.youtube.com/erikdubois

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I tried Meld with the pkglists. The only relevant (to my knowledge) package I found missing from the Arcolinux B distros is APM.
Do u think this might cause the difference in CPU fan speed and heat?

Thank you again

Arch Linux does not seem to have it.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ACPI_modules

We could take a look at settings in the bios themselves...
