[SOLVED] key doesn't work anymore since the last update

Post by GoustiFruit »

Hi,

A few days ago, some update modified a lot of my settings on the desktop (the taskbar, another custom panel lost, widgets, and other little changes). I spent some time to recover my settings, but one is still missing: the [Meta] key (or "Win") is not working anymore to display the main menu.
What should I do to get it back ?

check the keyboard shortcuts we have in /etc/skel/.config.

there is your backup

you can do a skel and all will be fixed

but

know what skel is

Ouch, I went too quickly (I was in a hurry), ran "skel" too early and lost a lot of other settings.
Well, I was able to recover most of them by comparing the folders with Meld (as instructed), but I couldn't find the place where the Meta shortcut was created, so I browsed the internet and found that I had to re-affect the default shortcut [Alt]+[F1] to the menu/launcher to be able to use the [Meta] shortcut.
So... the case is probably solved, and it's nice to have to learn how to use skel, but it's not something one should do just to recover its own settings, automatically modified because of an update :-\
