I'm assuming your problem is with floating windows only in i3.
Check your i3 config file for this line:

Code: Select all

floating_modifier $mod
This is the key that's bound to allow you to move and resize a floating window. For me above, it is bound to my $mod key:
  • Hold $mod + left click anywhere in window = move window
  • Hold $mod + right click anywhere in window = resize window
There should also be a possibility to set the size of windows. For example:

Code: Select all

for_window [class="urxvt"] resize set 640 480
Replace class="urxvt" with the outcome of running the

Code: Select all

xprop
command in terminal, then clicking on the relevant window to identify it. It can be used in various ways such as class="???" or title="???"
