[SOLVED] Openbox keybindings question

Post by ngc-bg »

Hi, I am new to ArcoLinux. I have a question related to openbox keybindings.
I've installed the B ISO (xfce, openbox, i3)

Code: Select all

ISO_RELEASE=v20.9.2
ISO_CODENAME=ArcoLinux
ISO_BUILD=Sun Aug 30 01:34:58 PM CDT 2020

I am openbox user many years now and I have my rc.xml configured and stored at git. After adding my configuration to ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml,
I found out that I have some discrepancies.
For instance invoking C-A-r starts rofi theme selector, despite the fact I have this keybind as openbox --reconfigure
There are no W-return and W-F12 keybinding at my config but still these are working as a charm... :shock:

So basically some of the defaults at /etc/skel/.config/openbox/rc.xml are active and working, along with my local configuration...

My understanding is that openbox as a simple WM reads it's configuration only form one place and if you have configured ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml, that is THE file for all of the keybindings (overrides the default one). Obviously I am wrong :)

My question is from where and how Arco's openbox get it's keybindings and why my old-school understanding on the topic is not correct. Sorry if I am missing something obvious, really don't know...

Thank you in advance!

We have made sure the xfce bindings and the openbox bindings are the same.

That might be the issue.
Learn, have fun and enjoy.

Oh, I see...You are populating xfce settings to openbox via autostart -> xfsettings daemon -> xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts! Nice & clean...the mystery is solved :D
Thank you very much for the prompt response!

Cheers,
NGC
