[SOLVED] AMD CPU Temps

Post by Mind_ » Tue Oct 08, 2019 6:41 pm

Is there a way to show the temps of my AMD Ryzen 5 2600?

I have used about every temp sensor out there, (that I know of) and nothing works. I can see the usage %, but not the temperature.

I tried running sensors-detect, but it would never find it. Here's my sensors results:

Code: Select all

[mind@mind-pc ~]$ sensors
amdgpu-pci-0a00
Adapter: PCI adapter
vddgfx: +0.95 V
fan1: 781 RPM (min = 0 RPM, max = 3500 RPM)
edge: +47.0°C (crit = +94.0°C, hyst = -273.1°C)
power1: 45.02 W (cap = 152.00 W)

k10temp-pci-00c3
Adapter: PCI adapter
Tdie: +33.0°C (high = +70.0°C)
Tctl: +33.0°C

iwlwifi-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +30.0°C
I am not "worried" about temps, as I have an AIO Water Cooler on there. But if the pump somehow fails, or my system gets sluggish, I want to know about it...

Any help?

Ask around on Discord.

There are a few that have your cpu.

I will only buy intel here.

Xeoncpu did help me. BUT, I'm running into a few issues...

Here's the vid he pointed me to:

What he has in his description is not what he did above.

Code: Select all

1 install kernel headers
sudo pacman -S linux-headers

2 install chipset drivers
yaourt it87-dkms-git
OK, this all works fine, except...

Code: Select all

sudo touch /etc/modules-load.de/modules.conf
It says there is no such folder. So I just created it myself.

So then:

Code: Select all

4 add it87 to modules.conf
sudo (texteditor) /etc/modules-load.de/modules.conf (it87)
To that it says:

Code: Select all

bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('
So, I just go into nano and do it myself.

I bring up:

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe it87
And get:

Code: Select all

modprobe: FATAL: Module it87 not found in directory /lib/modules/5.3.4-arch1-1-ARCH
Umm..... Help?

Well, if Erik can't help... :P

I'll just wait until XeonCPU gets back on.

But still, you might recognize those commands, and why they are fuffing up...

Since I installed a bunch of crap, (sites recommended by Xeoncpu) nothing seemed to work. Links:

(just to help anyone)
https://linuxconfig.org/monitor-amd-ryz ... el-modules

So he sent me a reddit link:

In there, it says: "Try with psensor, it's fine with my 2600"

I have a 2600, yay...

So I try it, and I get several temps.. "edge" "Tdie" "Tctl" and "temp1"

So I got a thinking, maybe sensors can see more now.

Code: Select all

[mind@mind-pc ~]$ sensor
bash: sensor: command not found
[mind@mind-pc ~]$ sensors
amdgpu-pci-0a00
Adapter: PCI adapter
vddgfx: +0.95 V
fan1: 778 RPM (min = 0 RPM, max = 3500 RPM)
edge: +45.0°C (crit = +94.0°C, hyst = -273.1°C)
power1: 40.14 W (cap = 152.00 W)

k10temp-pci-00c3
Adapter: PCI adapter
Tdie: +32.4°C (high = +70.0°C)
Tctl: +32.4°C

iwlwifi-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +31.0°C
Apparently, "edge" was my GPU, and "Tdie" and "Tctl" was my NVME SSD. And I think "Temp1" is my CPU.

I still do not know, but ~30C seems correct for my CPU.

Big thanks to Xeoncpu! I'll mark this solved.
