hblock update overwrites hblock allow/deny lists

Post by belred »

I'm using Arco Linux B (Gnome). I'm using the package arcolinux-hblock-git 3.1.0-1 which was already pre-installed and just got updated. There are included config files allow.list and deny.list that are installed with this package. I just noticed that this package overwrote the allow.list that I already had customized. Is it supposed to do that? What is the correct way to have your own allow.list/deny.list and have an update not revert it back to the installation version?

/etc/hblock/allow.list
/etc/hblock/deny.list
/usr/local/bin/hblock
/usr/share/applications/advert-block.desktop
/usr/share/licenses/hblock/LICENSE

My understanding is that a package update shouldn't touch any of user's modified configs under /etc.

As a "workaround" you could use the

Code: Select all

 chatrr
command to set the immutable bit for those files:
