[SOLVED]ArchMerge(D) and ssd's

Post by darknetmatrix » Fri Nov 17, 2017 3:29 pm

Does ArchMerge & ArchMergeD recognize and automatically optimize / configure for a Solid State Drive or do I need to go though a manual configuration process to get trim / discard working?

I guess we could look at- cat /etc/fstab
Look if there is a "discard" parameter.

Just a thought.....

More info is here
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Solid_State_Drives

and yes Calamares/Arch is taking care of this.

This is my /etc/fstab from ArchMergeD Xfce

Code: Select all

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a device; this may
# be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices that works even if
# disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# <file system>             <mount point>  <type>  <options>  <dump>  <pass>
UUID=85s0B-6f929                            /boot/efi      vfat    defaults,noatime 0 2
UUID=68afesdfea6-bddb4-4964-9d1s3-18afdf7f937648 /              ext4    defaults,noatime,discard 0 1
UUID=e24acs7be-3bd4d-43s3c-b648-0a8b8c9ef968 swap           swap    defaults,noatime,discard 0 0
tmpfs                                     /tmp           tmpfs   defaults,noatime,mode=1777 0 0
Using the discard option for a mount in /etc/fstab enables continuous TRIM in device operations:
