I came across a temporary fix, but it needs paired again and goes back to not working after reboot.

systemctl restart bluetooth.service

This only works until reboot and not exactly sure what to do to make permanent.

when you enable a service it keeps working

the service itself or the settings or the software or the hardware might be the culprit
