[OPEN] Grub Menu Issue: Doesn't look correct and slow

Post by Sdearco » Wed Jul 31, 2019 9:18 pm

Hello,

Just as a bit of background, I only recently started using Linux about 3-4 months ago and I began with Mint. It was a comfortable start but I feel moving over to Arch-Based (eventually Arch) distros is the way to go.

I recently installed ArcoLinux v19.07.9 on my ThinkPad T550 and I am experiencing issues with my Grub menu. I am still able to boot into the operating system and everything works fine (so far) but the ugly boot menu is bothersome. I have searched all over ArcoLinux Forum and the Arch Wiki but could not find a solution or similar problem. I have tried both the LTS and regular kernel.

Here is how my menu looks:

I also get a screen like this after I select ArcoLinux

I have tried a number of things from these resources as well but to no avail:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_graphics
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GR ... Resolution
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GR ... and_tricks

Also one last note, I attempted to install Manjaro on the ThinkPad as well and ran into the same problem, so maybe it is an Arch thing? I had no issues with Mint or Ubuntu installations and menus.

Here is the output for inxi -F for the T550

It is never good that a specific computer has an Arch Linux page.

Check it out.

Learn, have fun and enjoy.
But first use the power of the Arch Wiki
use the tutorials on https://www.youtube.com/erikdubois
then use the power of google
then use the power of our moderators.

Agreed, but its still a good computer! I already checked out that page as well and nothing there was related to my issue. The video driver section only points to the Intel Graphics Arch Wiki, which I already browsed over.
