I just had the idea that maybe the iso I downloaded and the one I make have different file-ownership, but both the downloaded and the one I build are 666 - both in the same directory too, yet one works, while the other doesn't.

What if you tried using virtualbox like we do...

virtualbox installation script
https://github.com/erikdubois/arcolinux ... inux-v2.sh

That is something we do differently.

Do you also use Qemu or something else still?

Yes, still using qemu. Did you build the iso you've sent me in DMs in virtualbox too? maybe try to build it inside qemu and see if that boots for you? I don't have access right now and you seemed to have a working one setup already.

We build our iso on bare metal on the iso of ArcoLinux (Xfce, Openbox and i3).

We do not build the iso in a virtual machine ever.

I just don't have any easy way to set up a bare metal virtualbox test myself. Could you try to build it in the qemu you setup? then try to boot from it, maybe it is because of qemu in general. If it boots please also send it to me via DM like the other image.

Sorry, this doesn't help anyone maybe, just wanted to say that this still happens. Got the same error yesterday when trying to install ArcoB Bspwm v20.3.3 on my ThinkPad T440p. It came with Windows 10, so i used Rufus to make a bootable stick. Switched to Etcher then and it did the trick.

So, that was the solution for me for now, i guess no one knows what happens with the next Calamares version. It seems to be related to Calamares.
